Facial Fillers
Intrinsic ageing is the natural, genetically determined process that occurs as we get older. Significant elements to intrinsic ageing are the loss of volume and dermal collagen, causing loss of moisture and Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule which helps to keep the skin plump and firm. Collagen is a protein that provides strength and elasticity to the skin. As our skin cells age, we see wrinkling and sagging start to happen.
Facial filler injections are a temporary, nonsurgical procedure. Most fillers on the market today are made out of Hyaluronic acid, a gel-like substance that is injected under the skin to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and soften creases and lines.
Filler results are immediate and typically last from 6 to 18 months, depending on the type used and the area that is being injected. As an experienced injector, Aundrea creates a natural, seamless appearance on the face. Her artistic approach and advanced training consistently produce beautiful results.
Upon arrival
The initial filler consult can last up to 45 minutes. During this time a thorough consultation will be completed; educating the client on what can be achieved with filler. This allows each individual to decide which direction they would like to start regarding this service. Full consent forms are signed while confidential medical photos are taken.
This procedure is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals who take anticoagulants or those who suffer from a bleeding disorder. Prior to each filler treatment, the use of blood thinners such as aspirin (unless prescribed) or consumption of alcohol should be stopped within 2-3 days. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions, immune deficiencies, skin infections and certain medications are cautioned and further discussion is required.
Treatment
The skin should be cleared of all make-up and creams before each appointment. Pre-cleansing of any makeup or oils will take place followed by the application of topical numbing cream. Ice and a mild vibration help to minimize discomfort from the injections. Depending on the area that is being treated, either a small fine needle will be used or a micro-cannula to help reduce bruising and swelling. Most individuals can return to their normal daily activities after filler treatments.
Post Care
Mild redness can be seen after the injections and last for 10-20 minutes. Bruising and swelling are more common with facial filler and can last up to two weeks. One of the ways to minimize unnecessary bruising is to avoid the use of blood thinners, such as Vitamin E, Aspirin, fish oil, and Ginseng, prior to treatments.
